Sad Songs, Glad Songs, and Mad Songs: Psalms in the Center of Life For centuries the Psalms have given God's people models for prayer, praise, worship, and song. From petition to praise, from anxiety to assurance, from the voicing of disappointment to the vowing of thanksgiving, all the emotions and responses of the human spirit come to expression in the Psalms. We will examine the major types of Psalms, and the emotions they evoke and from which they have arisen, in an attempt to understand how these songs in the center of our Bible engage us at the center of our lives and guide us to faithful Christian response.
